Nat Bowditch Should Have Been Indentured

Nat’s dad should have indentured Nat for three reasons: he wouldn’t be the same Mr. Bowditch we know today, he wouldn’t be the same great sailor we know today, and his dad loved him, but saw opportunity.

Nat’s father should have indentured Nat JR because he wouldn’t be the same Mr. Bowditch we know today. One of the great things he did is he made many corrections in mores. This is important because many would get lost at sea because of the errors in mores. He got discipline from being indentured, which led him to great things. He also made friends with Mr. Hodges who played an important part in the story.

Nat should have been indentured because he wouldn’t be the same great sailor today. He learned valuable skills like being captain of a ship which led to him clearing the fog at the end of the book. He learned how to sail a ship and how to navigate it. If Nat wasn’t indentured, he wouldn’t be the same great man today.

Nat’s dad loved Nat but saw an opportunity. Habakkuk loved Nat but they were poor so Habakkuk indentured him so he wouldn’t have to spend as much on food. Mr. Hodges taught him valuable life lessons that his father couldn’t have taught him. He learned three languages that he could use in many different countries.

Nat’s dad should have indentured Nat because he wouldn’t be the same Mr. Bowditch we know today; he wouldn’t be the same great sailor we know today and, his dad loved him but saw opportunity.

The Woodpeckers Fascinating Way of Life

The woodpecker is one of Gods most fascinating creatures. The woodpecker is a type of bird that is in the same family as the sapsucker. The woodpecker has a hard beak and a long tongue.

Woodpeckers live in trees where they grow. They are part of the Picidae family which includes sapsuckers. The sapsucker bores a hole in trees to eat, similarly to woodpeckers. Woodpeckers are omnivorous meaning that they eat plants and meat. Though sometimes confused for its cousin, the sapsucker, the woodpecker doesn’t normally eat sap.

The woodpecker’s amazing beak is adapted from pecking trees over there years. Their bill is outstanding and plenty tough too. Most woodpeckers have long tongue while others have small barbs.  A little-known fact about woodpeckers is that they can’t get brain damage and they build nests for other birds. The people who study birds like woodpeckers are called Ornithologists.

The woodpecker’s hard beak hides a long tongue. The woodpecker is in the same family as the sapsucker. woodpecker is one of my favorite subjects to study and one of the most fascinating.

Sharks, the Apex Predator of the Sea

Sharks are some of the oldest and most fascinating things to ever roam this earth. Sharks play a huge part in the food chain and are a top predator. Sharks are some of the oldest creatures in the sea. Sharks are fascinating to study, especially the deep-sea kind. The bull shark is really captivating.

Sharks are fish because they are not warm blooded. Sharks are a type of fish called elasmobranch fish. They are some of the oldest fish that live in the sea. Sharks are similar to rays because they have similar skin. When sharks swim fast, it’s because most sharks have a torpedo shape to glide and cut through the water. They have been happily living in the sea for over 400 million years. They have been on the earth longer than trees have. There are over 400 different types of sharks with each one being different in its own way. If all sharks disappeared tomorrow, sea life would suffer.

Bull sharks are a special kind of sharks. They are called bull sharks because of their strong build and study form. Bull sharks are some of the only sharks that can persist in freshwater and saltwater. Many bull sharks have been found in the Mississippi river. They get there by swimming up the Mississippi river. It is impossible for most sharks to do this. They like to live in warm and tropical water. They kill prey by a process called bump and bite. Information about bull sharks is gathered by marine biologist who are experts in sea life.

The shark is one of the oldest things to ever live being older than trees themselves. Sharks are fish and predators. They have earned the title, apex predator. Bull shark is one of the only seas creatures that can survive freshwater and saltwater. Bull sharks can swim up lakes and rivers to catch freshwater food and can swim into the sea to get saltwater fish. Sharks are significant because they are the top predator in the ocean’s food chain.

The Octopus of the Mysterious Deep Blue

The octopus is one of nature’s most mysterious creatures. The octopus lives in the deep sea far down but sometimes you can see them crawling on the ocean floor.

The octopus belongs to the octopodidae family. The octopus has skin cells called chromatophores. These special cells allow the octopus to change colors and blend it with its surroundings. At the same time the octopus is changing color it might also be mimicking another animal.

The octopus and squid have many similarities with the squid. The squid and octopus both have eight arms and a soft body. However, the octopus has blue blood. Experts say that this is because the octopus has coper in its blood. Some octopi can grow very big. However, the kraken is simply a work of fiction.

We are pretty confident that the only octopus that can kill is the blue-ringed octopus. The octopus has very large complex eyes with a slit shaped pupal. The octopus has eight arms and all of them are covered with suckers. Each arm has two rows of suckers. The octopus uses its suckers to rip apart its pray. These suckers allow the octopus to taste what it is touching.

The squid and octopus have many differences bit also have many similarities. The suckers of the octopus are very complex and fascinating. The octopus is one of the most mysterious animals in the deep blue sea.

The Riveting Tiny Parts of Leaves

Have you ever wanted to shrink and see what leaves are like up close? Well, you’re in luck because we are about to do just that! The way leaves work is interesting because leaves are an important part of plants. All leaves have different parts, like chlorophyll, which can create energy. When summer turns to fall some leaves fall hence the name.

Leaves are made up of minuscule parts called cells. Inside of these cells are even more tiny things called chlorophyll. These chlorophylls are what makes leaves green. The sun glints light on the chlorophyll which makes energy for the tree. This process is called photosynthesis. When fall comes around, the green chlorophyll disappears, and turns into orange and yellow. The green chlorophyll turns sun into energy, whereas yellow and orange do not. All leaves have small openings called stoma. These stomas bring in carbon dioxide and push out air. At the same time, the leaves are making energy. If all leaves disappeared, the air quality will go downhill. These results are gathered by specialists in the field.

Most trees shed their leaves in fall, except trees in the evergreen family. The Some leaves are long and thin like pine needles. Pine needles have wax so they don’t need to shed their leaves.

The way leaves work in nature is riveting. They play a very important role in making energy using chlorophyll and photosynthesis. They play a fascinating and beautiful part in the wildlife, especially when the seasons change.

King Edward VI

After the death of Edward’s father, Henry, Edward became king. Edward only ruled for nine years, and died when he turned eighteen. Edward was born in 1537 and started his education at six years old with private tutors. Edward’s mother was Jane Seymour, Henry’s third wife. Edward was interested in the military and was influenced by Protestantism. He was called the British Josiah because he was so young. When he reigned, it was a time of unrest stemming both from religion and politics. The kingdom wasn’t always in his control as he co-ruled with his father’s council. He didn’t have considerable influence over the church’s development. He continued the separation his father had made, and made the church more protestant. An important archbishop who helped supporting these reforms was Tomas Cranmer. Edward lived a short life lasting only 18 years.

The Engrossing Way Rocks Are Made

Imagine you’re on a hike. You stop to see a few rocks on the trail. You see some have crystals, while others have lines. You wonder how they were made. A rock can form from lava, which comes from inside the earth. This can be millions of years old. Lava is made of molten rock, so when it cools down, it makes new rocks. Sometimes, lava forms a skin, which then- forms a wrinkled surface on the rock. The rock pumice is made of solidified lava froth and is the only rock that can poise in water. Today, pumice is commonly used as a skin exfoliator.

Sedimentary rock forms when sand, other rocks, and shells of dead animals or coral get compressed down into a hard stone. This happens over millions of years’ time. Some known sedimentary rocks are limestone and sandstone.

Every rock has minerals in it. A mineral is a solid compound of chemicals and other substances. There are more than 3,000 mysterious minerals that make up earth. Some rocks oddly contain very minuscule amounts of gold. Others contain gemstones.

You continue on your hike. You have learned a lot about the different kinds of rocks. They come in many sizes; some are small like pebbles; some are big like boulders. They may have come from lava or sand, but all of them are interesting and each has a story to tell. Rocks make up this earth and without them we wouldn’t have many of the things we use today.

The Salem Witch Trials

In the 1600s, supernatural sources were often attributed with common events. It was a common belief that the devil was present on earth. This belief originated in Europe in the 15th century. In 1560 to 1670, people were accused of witchcraft, as superstitions were at that time associated with the devil. These witch craft prosecutions were most common in Salem. If something bad happened, it was the witch’s fault. Then people would accuse others of being a witch and would argue their case in court. These trials occurred between 1692 to 1693. As a result of these trials, 20 people died.

Before 1692, many rumors of witchcraft had spread around Salem. A Boston minister named Cotton Mather thought witchcraft should be eradicated. His teachings are thought to have laid the ground rules for all the violence in Salem. He attended Boston Latin school and graduated from Harvard at only 15 years old. He joined his father working in the ministry after completing his post-grad work. He later became the pastor of the north church in 1685. He wrote more than 450 books and pamphlets and participated in the great Awakening in the 1600s. A lot of his writings were written for personal. He called second and also third-generation colonists to higher moral standards.

Treasure Island

One of the points I think being made in Treasure Island is to never trust an important decision to a stranger. An example is like what the squire did to Long John Silver to pick out the crew. Another thing is do not always trust people you don’t know well because they can be a bad person such as Long John Silver. Always watch out the people and company you have. Money and treasure hunts turn people into animals. Always listen to an abandoned or marooned person, crazy or not. Never trust a man with a missing leg and a parrot as seen with Long John.

I think some of these messages were intended by Robert Louis Stevenson and he showed them in his book. He showed to never trust an important decision to another person. The squire let Long John make decisions so Long John picked out a crew to help him commit a mutiny. Don’t rush decisions of it could make or lead to a bad decision. The reason the squire let long john pick the crew out is because he rushed his decision so they could leave sooner.

Long John Silver is the man with one leg who betrays the crew. Long John wants to take all the treasure, so he secretly plotted against the crew to steal all the wealth. The lesson learned is to not always trust a person that you hardly know because they can be bad.

The squire is the friend of the doctor and Jim Hawkins. The squire wants to find the treasure and be rich for the rest of his life. He was at the doctor’s house when Jim found the map and Jim came so the squire said he would make the best crew. The lessons learned by the squire is to never rush an important decision, and to never trust someone you hardly know with an important decision.
